Do It Yourself: Garden Structures Part 1
Hello Fellow Gardeners,
I don’t know about you but I like to save money on my garden by doing certain projects myself. If I build a greenhouse, a cold frame, or whatnot, I can save lots of money to buy more plants, sculptures, or other great decorative things for my garden! As when you grow a beautiful plant from seed, there is a sense of pride and accomplishment at seeing your handy work come to life!
I am always on the look out for free plans here and there to help me in my garden, and I thought I’d share some with you Do-It-Yourself types out there. All of these are fairly easy to do with some help and a few tools. And just think, your project will be unique! You can add your own personal touches so it won’t be the cookie cutter look that you can find in stores!
Let’s Get Building!
The following plans are courtesy of www.PVCPlans.com…just click on the picture to go directly to the plans.
Greenhouse
Greenhouse’s like this can go for up to $2000! This one you can build for a few hundred and fit the size to your needs!
Cold Frames
These little wonders are perfect for propagation, acclimating your new seedlings, growing vegetables, and even starting seeds!
Row Covers
This will protect your plants from wind and heavy rain!

Arched Arbors
These lovely structures will not only enhance your garden but allow you to plant those beautiful climbers! Some of my favorite climbing roses are John Davis, William Baffin and Ramblin’ Red! If you aren’t as obsessed with roses as I am, you could try a clematis such as Jackmanii or Rosemoor or even an annual vine like Hyacinth Bean.
Triangular Arbors
These beautiful arbors are a little more rugged, perfect for a log or cedar house or just an informal garden. This will help create a place in the shade for you to sip a cup of tea or just smell the roses! After all, what’s the point of having a garden if you don’t take time to enjoy it!

Happy Gardening,
