Hello Fellow Gardeners,
We have a new contest ready for Father’s Day (didn’t think we’d leave you out did you!?). We also have fabulous brand new prizes!
To enter our contest, simply answer the following question in the comments…
What is your favorite gardening moment and why?
We will choose three lucky winners!
The Grand Prize
The grand prize winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Gardener’s Supply Company. This website has tons of great tools that will help you get the job done right and in record time!

Second Place Prize
The second place winner will receive one large English Tip bag from Gardener’s Supply Company! It’s a $29 value! This may seem like a rather odd prize, but I have one of these, and I have to say– I LOVE IT! It’s so versatile! I haul weeds, leaves, and other debris away, keeping my garden looking spic n’ span! The size is also just right to have it right next to you where it’s easy to pick up and doesn’t get in your way! All in all, it’s one of my favorite garden helpers!

Third Place Winner
Finally, one third place winner will receive my absolute favorite rose– the Nicole Rose! Not only is this rose special to me because my daughter is named Nicole, but it is also highly disease resistant, wonderfully fragrant, and quite frankly, it’s the most beautiful rose I’ve ever had the pleasure of growing!

The Rules
Three winners will be chosen, and one prize given to each winner. If any of the aforementioned prizes are not available, a gift certificate of an equal value will be provided instead. Contest is open to everyone! The lucky winners will be chosen at our sole discretion. The contest will end on Monday, June 18th. To enter you must answer the question above.

My favorite gardening moment is when the newly planted seeds start to emerge from the warm womb of the earth. I love to see these new babes peek their tiny heads out of the ground, greeting me with their newfound potential. I dream of the harvest days then, I can almost taste the acidic sweetness of a fresh picked tomato, the delightful crispness in a vine ripened sugar snap pea, the robust flavor of a butternut squash, ahhhh, life is good!
My favorite gardening moment happened this week actually. About two or three weeks ago, my husband found some unopened seeds stashed in a drawer. They were dated for 2000, 2001, and 2002 I think it was. Most of the packets were marked 2000. We dug out some various pots and planted them all. There’s beans, cucumber, parsley, three types of chamomile, and some thyme. I didn’t expect them to grow. Partly because they were dated as so old and partly because I’m the worst gardener I know.
This week most of them sprouted! The beans (they might be peas actually) are really taking off to the point we had to add a thing for them to grow on, the parsley is growing slowly but it’s actually growing, and the others are starting to show some green finally. The cucumber has three plants that have sprouted so far. I don’t remember what’s in each of the other two or three pots though, I guess we’ll find out when it grows more.
I’m used to my plants dying. It’s just so much fun to see that I can actually grow things. I have indoor plants that used to be barely hanging onto life, people would ask me how the plants were and I’d say “They aren’t dead yet.” Lately I have actually managed to get them green and healthy. That along with the outdoor plants sprouting up, it just makes me want to tell anyone I meet “Look, I CAN grow stuff!” I’m proud of my odd little garden I have scattered around in the front yard. Every day I go out and check on the progress and email friends and family to update them on it all every few days. I’m sure they’ll be glad when winter hits, I won’t be updating them so often probably haha
This year we are trying something new for us. After many years of having a large vegetable garden and having less and less time to properly care for it, we gave up having a garden at all. We dedicated the space to more lawn and also a woodworking shop for my hubby. Well, old loves die hard. We decided to try gardening again but on a much smaller scale. We purchased 5 self-watering containers. We have renamed the product to “Garderning For Dummies”. Everything is included but the soil and the plants and there were very specific instructions about them!
Being good followers we did as instructed…and the results are nothing short of amazing. It has been a pure joy each and every morning to go out to our “farm” and check the amazing growth of our tomatoes, cukes, eggplant, green peppers, squash, etc. We are having such fun and are taking pictures of our “babies” once a week to send to friends and family and for our own enjoyment. What had become a chore is now a fun and joyful hobby. Bigger is not always better.
My favorite moments gardening were picking vegetables/flowers that had grown after my dad and I had planted them.
great site
My favorite gardening moment is the same every time - when our dog Rascal respectfully walks AROUND our 8′ x 12′ backyard garden plot rather than through. He was raised on a 10 acre, commercial organic farm. It was there he acquired the patience of a farmer, waiting under a wheelbarrow (the only shade available) until his poppa was done planting. Now we live in a small ranch house with a lawn plot of vegetables, and poppa’s work takes him inside. So every time I see Rascal dutifully avoid the garden soil, I’m reminded of his puppy years on the big farm and how he’s still our good little gardener guy.
My favorite gardening moment every year is when the first tiny little vegetables, a tomato, pepper, eggplant, etc., start showing up on the plants. This is what its all about, watching those plants create actual food!
When my oldest daughter was four years old we helped her grow her first cucumber plant. We captured the moment of her first harvesting of a giant cuke on film. The look of pride on her small face is very evident. She still talks about that moment and remembers the feelings surrounding it. It must have been a happy experience since she has devoted her life to growing things and now runs her own landscaping company!!
My favorite gardening moment is when my husband brings in that first tomatoe…or pea, or zuchinni, or corn. I did not inherit my dads green thumb, nor did my husbands love of gardening rub off on me. But I love to go to the back door door and yell “the waters boiling, pick the corn.”
my favorite gardening moment is: sharing with friends and family all the vegetables that i have grown.
My favorite garden moment happened this spring on Mother’s Day.
I’d just finished clearing out a flowerbed that had very poor soil and never grew anything well except weeds. My Eldest son, who’d come to see me for Mother’s Day, was giving the yard a once-over to see what I’d had in my head this year for a major change.
When he asked what I was going to put in that freshly turned bed, I told him it would probably be for a cutting garden after I got the soil ammended. He frowned and said, “Well, you had better get those prickers out of there first.”
I gasped. (He knows prickers and I have been at all-out war for years and he’s listened to me mumble and just about curse pulling them out since he was a very small boy). At first I thought he was trying to put one over on me because of my utter disdain for prickers. I looked where he was pointing and burst out laughing. There, standing tall, was the one thing I’d left alone in that bed to grow - poppies!
when the garden is ready for picken and im ready for eatin.
My favorite gardening moment is first thing in the morning when everything looks brand new. Beautiful new plants are coming up. What a wonderful way to start the day. Nature at its best.
My favorite gardening moment was…the very first time my Frank took me to “his” garden store to pick out plants with him. It was my favorite because although we had weeded and watered and picked together, once he took me with him to shop for plants and supplies, I knew our wedding couldn’t be far behind. And I was right, we’re getting married next month.
Mom passed away just last week at 90, but she still had planted her flowers and had a lovely park-like yard. Dad, who is nearly 94, is now lovingly watering and caring for her gardens (every morning at 5:00 am), talking to her and telling her everything he is doing - he says to make sure he is doing it right.
My favorite gardening moment is when it was high summer last year, with the night falling. My sweetheart and I dragged our lawn chairs to the front yard to watch our moonflowers opening, there had to be something like 50 buds ready to open. I was a little slow getting out there and my sweetheart gets all excited.
“Come here! What is weird here tonight?” he asked when I finally got settled.
“Um, I keep hearing a loud buzzing.”
“Look at that moonflower!” he pointed out a large flower toward the front. Sure enough, that was where the buzzing was coming from. A fat bumblebee had somehow wedged itself down into the flower before it was open and was trapped! We sat laughing and waiting to see the flower open and let the bee go. When it finally did that poor bumblebee whirled around and we were laughing so hard we were crying.
Good times in the garden!
a garden is as close to heaven as you can get , my sister loss her son 4 years ago and has a Adam Garden . Its beautiful with flowers, waterlily , goldfish pond and benches , a great place to mediatate or just visit with family.
my favorite gardening moment is when all the hard word is done and everythings in bloom…you can sit back, relax and enjoy
My best friend came down from Maryland and brought bkack-eyed susans, bee balm and some hostas to plant a friendship garden at my home in North Carolina.
My favorite gardening moment is when the garden is just done-the planning, the digging, the selecting of what to plant, the actual planting, the mulch is put down and you step back and look at what you and God have created.
My favorite gardening moment is picking the first ripe tomato each year. Subsequent tomatoes may be prettier and larger, but none ever tastes better than the first one of the season. The fruits of the labor are worth the labor!
My favorite gardening moment is when you order plants and they finally arrive. To open up the box and see how lovingly the bushes and tree are packed. whiteflowerfarm.com had packed my 14 rose bushes, 1 lilac bush, 1 honeysuckle bush and 1 franklin tree with tender care.
We planted them the same day. It was an all day affair but a most awaited one! New growth has already sprung forth.
New Arrivals with the hopes of much beauty..is my favorite moment
I purchased a house in Florida. The palm tree in front of the house was not in good shape. I read up on the care of this tree and now it is in excellent condition.
Still learning HOW to garden!
My favorite gardening moment has changed as I have changed and grown through the years.
When I was a child it was the time I spent with my parents planting, picking the vegetables and eating them.
When I was a teenager it was the time I spent alone in the garden.
As an adult it was mainly the smell of the dirt when I dug to plant.
Now as a grandmother it has come full circle just as a garden does, sharing the wonder of gardening with my four-year-old granddaughter. Watching her enjoy our time together working as she learns the joys of gardening and all it has to offer.
My favorite gardening moment is when I pick the fruits of my labors. Fresh vegetables being picked at the peak of perfection lets me reflect on the purity of nature’s way of offering it’s bounty.
My favorite moment is when I stand back, stretch my back and see no weeds!
My favorite gardening moment is planting my flowers and waiting patiently for the outcome to see if my flowers will be beautiful.
My favorite moment is when I first get out to the garden in the morning; there is a morning haze in the air and dew drips from every leaf. The loamy scent of soil blends with the sweet fragrance of primrose and the garden spiders are still busily doing their night’s work. Birds are singing, the sun is still below the horizon, and the day is young! These are the moments I live for.
After spending so much time planting vegetables in my garden, to see the first bloom excites me. All that hard work makes growing my own vegetables worth it.
I love to see the things I plant grow, and know that all my hard work paid off after all.
My favorite gardening moment has been taking my children to the garden in the morning and having no cucumbers on the vine, but returning in the afternoon and having to pick six to eight nice large cucumbers that have magically appeared.
The very best gardening time is very early morning when the birds are just “waking up” and there is just enough light to begin work. The dew on the plants, the early morning light, the earthy fragrance in the air, and the first twittering of the birds creates an exquisite, if brief, moment.
My favorite gardening moment is when my son picks up his sand toy shovel and says:
“Dad, come one, get your shovel and lets dig!”
My favorite gardening moment is taking my granddaughters into our berry patch, they eat as many as the pick, when they finally have their buckets filled and also their stomachs, we head inside to make pancakes with fresh berries, this is our summer tradition and I hope it continues til long after their grown.
I was very new to gardening. I ordered some dahlia rhizomes through the mail because the pictures of the flowers were so gorgeous. The funny root looking things that arrived in my mail were not really what I was looking forward to. Nevertheless, I hit the web and read up everything that I could on how to turn this shriveled roots into the giant displays of color that the catelog had promised. My happiest day of gardening was when the first giant dahlia opened up and rewarded me with a burst of purple. I had done this. Yeah, me!
Really watching them bloom is awesome- I love it when the butterflies are flying around the flowers it looks so pretty
My favorite moment each year is when my first rose blooms. It is a sure sign that spring is really here.
my favorite moment is when the first blooms arrive on my ROSE BUSH
My favorite gardening moment is that rare moment when I am lucky enough to see a hummingbird suspended in space, enjoying my flowering butterfly or lilac bushes; it amazes and gratifies me that something beautiful that I’ve planted and nutured attracts something else so beautiful to my garden!
only the best helper’s-neighboring curious kids
In the spring when the tulips, daffodils and hyacinths appear.
My (our) favorite gardening moment is at the end of a long day working in the garden. I’ve cleaned up the tools, showered and gotten a “cold one” and go walking around the garden with my dog who has been my “supervisor” & companion all day. We both admire our work and look at each other with that look that says “well done”! He is proud of his work!
My favorite gardening moment is going out and picking that tomato that you have been waiting on to ripen I take the salt shaker out with me and eat it fresh off of the vine. I don’t care about the juice running down my arm or squirting everywhere, I just enjoy the goodness.
Trimming my roses on a quiet Sunday morning. It brings me peace (and no one is up yet mowing their lawn to disturb me.)
When the seed plants just come up, the rows are clean exect for the plants
In keeping with the Father’s Day theme, my thoughts turn to my now-departed father. This man took such pride in his lawn and garden, he not only wouldn’t ask anyone to help with it, he wouldn’t even take any help when offered. As a result, I very much looked forward to when I finally had a yard of my own, so I could do all the things I used to watch him do. I miss my father very much but I must say, in retrospect, the lawn work is not nearly as much fun as he made it seem!
My favorite gardening moment is truly every day I can spend in my garden planting, weeding and watching it grow and bloom. My job is stressful with not so nice people when I come home I often will work in my garden until dark feeling as if among friends.
My favorite gardening moment is when my gentle shepherd daylily blooms. It is the best white daylily I’ve ever had and I look forward to it.
My favorite moment is seeing the first hint of red on my tomatoes and I realize I haven’t killed the plant (yet). I don’t exactly have a green thumb.
My favorite gardening moment is when my sunflowers bloom and my seven year old daughter has to stand on tiptoe to see them.
My favorite gardening moment is when the coral honeysuckles bloom on either side of my front doorway The are on trellis’s and when I sit in the dining room or living room I can see the hummingbirds and then later in the season they bring their babies I just love to see them.
I love watching the deer eat most of what I’ve planted in the vegetable garden. Saves having to pick and preserve it later-at least that is what I tell myself!
I love it when my garden produces its first vegetable of the season. This year my squash produced first and it made me feel like I had accomplished something and it was delicious.
My favorite gardening moment is every day! I love watering my plants and watching them grow.
I remember helping my Dad in the garden and strawberry field when I was little. We were automatically expected to help out, as we had a farm and there were things we HAD to do, but working in the garden and strawberry patch were my favorites. P.S. He also taught me how to drive the tractor when I was 10.
WHEN I BUY MARK DOWN FLOWERS (THOSE ALMOST DEAD) AND WITH MY LOVING CARE HOW THEY LIVE AND ARE SO BEAUTIFUL. IT SHOWS THINGS CAN COME BACK TO LIFE WITH LOVING CARE.
Gardening is so relaxing.
I can get away from everyday life
My favorite gardening moment was seeing flowers that I had planted seeds for bloom for the first time. It was the first time I realized that I could actually grow something!
It happened two weeks ago - an epiphylim cutting bloomed. It took four years, and it was worth the wait.
Every year my dad and I have a tomato growing competition. Who has the biggest plants, gets the first little fruit set, the most ripe tomatoes, the first ripe tomatoes. My dad always wins
But we have lots of fun.
My favorite moment is early morning, when I see the glistening wetness in my garden, hear the melodious songs of birds and smell the damp goodness of the earth.
Minnesota winters are very long, cold and harsh. I have many bulbs planted, and also peonies and fruit trees. When the weather finally gets warm, I sit on my front porch with a cup of coffee and thoroughly enjoy seeing my yard and flowers in full bloom.
My favorite gardening moment occurs when I FINISH WEEDING (by hand) the flower garden bed.
My favorite gardening moment is when i see my Wife working in the Garden … just kidding
My favorite gardening moment is when after all the work in the Garden is done and i sit on my front Porch and can enjoy the beautiful Flowers .
My favorite gardening moment is when I see my dog pulling the snow peas (riped only) off the vine and waiting for more when I pass the vines for those tastey peas that are to high for her to reach.
My favorite gardening moment was when my little niece Devyn was over and helping me. She loved getting all dirty. It was nice quality time.
MY 1ST TIME MAKING COMPOST WOW WHAT POWER
My favorite gardening moment is hen the new perennial I planted flowers and I get to see how it looks.
My favorite gardening moment was when we went back to my hometown in Iowa to visit. Hadn’t been there since my mother and grandparents passed away, and although we knew the my grandparents old house was sold to the state, we hadn’t known that they had already torn it down to widen the highway, just the WEEK before we got there. I was so disappointed, that I made my husband pull over to see if there was anything left on the property at all. But, to my dismay, everything was buried, not a trace of the old house existed. So, I started to leave and out of the corner of my eye I see my grandfather’s peonies sticking out of the ground. Now, it is fall, and I know that I shouldn’t be digging them up and truthfully, I had no idea how to dig them, but I went to the dollar store and got some little garden shovels. I dug up what I could, but didn’t realize how much root I should have dug. I had about 12 pieces that I just hoped would make it. When I got home to Arkansas I put all the pieces in pots and prayed. At the end of the summer, all the plants looked like they had died. I was so heartbroken. It was the only chance I had! Well, they sit in the pots over the winter and this year TWO of the plants came back and I was able to plant them in the ground. I was crying I was so happy!! That has to be the best gardening moment I’ve ever had!! Now a piece of my Iowa heritage is growing in my Arkansas garden. Yeah!
My favorite gardening moment is when most of the flowers are in full bloom & most of the weeds are gone.
I’ll never forget the day that 4-year-old Michael looked up from his crouched position next to his sprouting beans in a coffee can and declared enthusistically, “Look what me and God are making.”
The first time my son, then 3 found a strawberry in our garden. He was amazed and ever since then he is in the garden every day to see if there is something to bring in and eat!
When I find that FIRST ripe tomato and I have to taste it RIGHT NOW, so I stand there with the warm sun on my back and the birds singing in concert and savor that first bite.AAAAAHHHHH
My best time is after the work is done, its then I can sit by the garden and watch the birds and butterflies work their magic.
When planting my first bulbs at my new house last fall, I uncovered a statue of St. Joseph the Carpenter. I believe you bury him upside down in the front yard when you want your house to sell. He is now all cleaned-up and in my dining room cabinet waiting for the day I need his help to sell the house. Sort of a neat tradition.
weed, weed, weed
Picking my first tomato of the year is always my shining moment!
My favorite moment is after the garden is weeded and watered, and the lawn is freshly mowed. Sit down with a cocktail, smell the freshly cut grass, and admire the results of our hard work. Then refill our cocktails
My favorite gardening moment usually follows the Gardener’s Supply tent sale in Williston. I go in not knowing what I will find, and come home with a car full of gardening supplies and spend the next week putting them all to good use. It is so much fun shopping the unknown, then to come home and plant the bulbs, shrubs, seeds, set in the pond and align the pavers my garden continues to grow in many ways. The the wonder of what will I find next year to add into the mix.
my favorite gardening moment is when I watch the hummingbirds go to each of my flowers that are blooming that I grew from seed myself and to enjoy the spectacular colors and the beautiful blooms that are different every day.
my favorite moment is seeing monarch caterpillars on the milkweed fattening and then attaching themselves to leaves as chrysalis
This year my granddaughter aged 5, helped me to plant some flower seeds. She tenderly watered and took care of the area every time she came to visit. My favorite moment was when she discovered that the flowers were GROWING
My favorite gardening moment comes every spring when after a bleak winter, I notice the buds on the trees are finally coming. It makes me smile and gives me hope anew.
The Birds and other animales ate all the Yellow flowers off the Zukine plants, then they chewed off the largr leaves.
When my husband and I moved into our first home after being married, he woke me up the next morning to go see something growing in the field across the highway. It was a small rose bush that had 1 beautiful rose on it. The rose was dark pink, light pink and white, about as big around as my fist and had the most beautiful smell. We transplanted it in our yard next to the front door. To our amazement it ended up being huge, 7 feet tall by about 5 feet wide. Late in the spring it would put on hundreds of beautiful multi-colored roses and the smell wafting into my house was delicious. We have moved three times and have transplanted to each home. I will never leave it behind 1) My husband found it the day after our wedding 2) It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and most important 3) From day one when people comment and admire it and ask what kind of rose it is he named it his “Tami Rose”
My favorite memory was the day we planted our vegetable garden this year. We always had a beautiful vegetable garden with my dad leading the way. Hurricane Katrina though took away all the land we used to plant on. It broke our hearts but especially my dad’s as he was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration and only has a little sight left. We worked so hard last year to get our land back to where it was so we could once again have our garden. We did not tell him though. Last month we told him to come over with my mom as we had a surprise. When he got here we took him to the back where there we had a fully tilled land with a new wheelbarrow full of seeds and plants. He had tears in his eyes when he saw and through those tears gruffly said “time is wasting so let’s get going”. This year we are going to have a beautiful garden once again and once again (with a little help) he will be leading the way!
My favortie gardening moment was the first time something I grew from seeds sprouted. It was miraculous and wonderful to watch those tender seedlings grow and to transplant them to my garden. What a feeling of accomplishment!
When the garden is at full bounty and we have picked large platters of various peppers, tomatoes, zucchinis and whatever, I get my camera and take a picture of the beautiful varieties. Then we can show them to relatives or email them to folks who can’t see what we’ve been doing. I also like that early morning chat with all the babies when they’re first budding.
Picking fresh peas from our garden with my dad and both of us eating more than we put in the pan.
I haven’t had to much luck with the garden the last couple of years, so my favorite gardening moment is when something actually grows, and I can show my husband I can really grow something!
My favorite moment… when I am at the garden watering with my watering can and the sunshine is falling gently into the evening and you can see the peas through the pod just waiting to be burst open!
my favorite gardening moment happens every year when I decide what I am going to plant. It is so much fun getting the dirt ready, and put those new plants in and hope that they do well.
My favorite gardening moment is every year when my Mom and I start planting. It’s such a good time for us to be together and the rewards last almost year round. It’s so wonderful to have something we like so much in common. From beautiful flowers to our huge vegetable garden, there’s so many to care for and appreciate.
My favorite gardening moments are whenever a garden transformation takes place. The days when you first notice shoots sprouting out of the dark earth, the morning you awake to find a rosebush suddenly in full bloom, the smile you get inside when you see that first tiny green tomato on the vine. Luckily, these fascinating events occur all the time, every year.
It is never too late to be what you might have been.
I was thinking about that saying yesterday when my daughter and I were looking at the colorful zinnias and marigolds that we started from seeds this spring.
For the 32 years that I have lived, I never planted a single seed, bulb, or rhizone. Until recently ,I thought I was incapable of growing anyhting more challenging than a Chia Pet. What finally changed was that my young daughter started to express interest in our neighbor’s morning glories and plants in general. “Okay” I thought “Gardening would be a much better hobby for the kid than video games or Pokemon trading cards.I’ll give it a chance. Maybe I’m not as bad at it as I think.” So off we went to the Home Depot to buy supplies. What followed was a series of memorable moments for us, including seeing the first young seedlings pushing through the dark soil one morning, seeing the delicate young plants grow more lush and substantial and then, finally, seeing the first colorful zinnias, four o clocks and marigolds bloom. To expert gardeners, these are mundane experiences, but to us it was a big deal. After 32 years of telling myself I had no talent with plants, I finally realized I was good at growing things. It is never too late to be what you might have been. And of all these moments, which was my favorite? Yesterday, after my husband’s Father’s Day dinner, my daughter Alexis and I were outside working in our new garden. My husband was sitting on the patio watching us and playing a song on his guitar. He looked around and said “You guys have done a really great job. The yard looks great.”
And we all sat and watched the butterflies and enjoyed the colorful display of our flowers until the sun went down.
My favorite gardening moments are when I am entertaining and can watch my family and friends smiling as they are enjoying watching the beauty I have created around them on my patios and in my gardens. We have very lush gardens with millions of flowers surrounding the patio and in our 4 different gardens. People can’t help but feel a sense of peace and tranquility when they come to visit our home.
my favorite gardening moments are in the early spring when the spring flowers start blooming after the winter.
My favorite moment is when the daylilies start to bloom. It’s just fantastic to see the color after a long winter.
My favorite moment was when I bought 1 1/2 acres and stoud there, looking at the endless possibilites for a great garden.
My favorite gardening moment is always watching the children, first my own and now my grandchildren and great grandchildren. The pure enjoyment of being allowed to play in the garden dirt, their attempts at planting seeds in a straight line, and finally their astonishment when their very own plant grows and gives them things to pick. They are so proud of their accomplishments and the love of gardening stays with them throughout their lifetimes.
My favorite gardening memory is when my father and I did some major landscaping. My father built brick planters along our house. Fifty feet of it. I helped by carrying bricks and lining them up. When it was time to go to the gardening center he gave me cart blanche in choosing the fruit trees and plants to go into each planter box. I remember choosing apples which was rare in southern California. My father was very proud of me when those apples ripened and tasted great.
My favorite gardening moment: I took my 3-year old daughter outside to our garden and we planted a line of colored jelly beans…we then watered those jelly beans every day for a week. She could not wait to see what would grow and it was watering those jelly beans was the highlight of each day for her. On the 7th morning I snuck out before she woke up and “planted” a colorful lolly pop where each jelly bean was planted. Well, to say the least she was thrilled when we went out later that morning and she say what had “grown” from those jelly beans!
My favorite gardening moment is when my little kids discover worms coming out of the soil and get grossed out and excited at the same time.
My favorite gardening moment occurred several years ago. My parents care for a foster child who suffered brain damage at birth and speaks very little. I have a flower garden in my back yard and when she saw it, her eyes lit up and she ran to the flowers, petting them like one would pet an animal. By the end of the day, she was saying “flowers”, “red” and “yellow”. It was so heartwarming to see my garden have such an impact on her!
My favorite gardening moment was and is spending time with my 2 granddaughters and grandson. They each have a small garden that we planted together. The pleasure of watching their faces when they get the soil ready and the excitement when they started to see their carrots and radishes and tomatoes start to grown. We have already had some of their radish, and they were the best tasting.
My favorite gardening moment is when it is time to let the kids pick the ripe vegetables from our garden. They are so proud and excited.
